Eyewitnesses and locals played a significant role in assisting passengers following the accident. Television visuals showed residents rushing to the rescue of passengers, helping them exit at least two toppled coaches. Among the visuals was a woman passenger who had understandably been left in shock, but locals swiftly came to her aid.

Jagdishpur SDPO Rajiv Chandra Singh reported that electric wires, poles, and rail tracks had been damaged as a result of the accident. Fortunately, due to the stability of some coaches, they did not overturn, potentially preventing further casualties.

Chief Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway zone, Birendra Kumar, revealed that the derailment occurred less than half an hour after the train left the Buxar station, en route to Ara.
